Will I be penalised if I have to wait an extra month until my new home is ready if the sale of this one goes through by June or July? You don't say which benefits are involved but you should be given a 26 week disregard for the capital resulting from the sale of your house, this can be extended at the discretion of a Decision Maker, make sure you keep the DWP informed of what is going on. Follow up any telephone conversation in writing.
