Good afternoon. I am selling my property to move into a new property which will be ready in the autumn. Will I be penalised if I have to wait an extra month until my new home is ready if the sale of this one goes through by June or July? I need all the money from this home to pay for my new home

You don't say which benefits are involved but you should be given a 26 week disregard for the capital resulting from the sale of your house, this can be extended at the discretion of a Decision Maker, make sure you keep the DWP informed of what is going on. Follow up any telephone conversation in writing.
