Is a face to face assessment mandatory in all case

I had a Text message on the 12-12-2019 informing me that My PIP application had been received, and assume that this was a generic message, and it also said that “we may need you to attend a consult with a HCP before they can make a decision” blah blah

Then I receive my telephone call assessment yesterday on the 11-03-2020 and later that afternoon I received the Text message which I have attached below for your reference.

Does this mean my I don’t need to have a face to face assessment as the DWP are telling me that they have received a copy of my written report of my PIP assessment?

Thanks in advance for your assistance with this query.

Paul

We've received the written report of your PIP assessment. We will write to you once we've made a decision on your PIP. As a guide you should hear from us within 6 weeks. You don't need to contact us unless any of the details you gave us have changed. Thank you.

Hi Bubble

A small number of claimants have just telephone assessments - which is what you have had and you are now awaiting the decision - no face to face.

Hey,

Thank you so much for your quick reply to my question, and for confirming this for me. I believed I did read this somewhere on here, but as this is the first time I’m going through this process I just wanted to have somebody in the know clarify it for me.

That said I also remember reading something yesterday that this isn’t necessarily a positive route to be taken down by the healthcare professional? Who has decided I don’t need a face to face assessment based off my 5 minute telephone conversation I had with them, am I correct in saying this?

I did use the PIP guide under the member download section on here, and spent many hours on my application, and provided loads of information, evidence, and contact information of professionals they could have contacted. So theres a possibility this also may have been part of the reason that the healthcare professional weed who I spoke to on the telephone believed they had sufficient information and supporting evidence? Or maybe this is just wishful thinking? So I’ll wait for the decision now and then brake it from there?

Are you aware of there being a below average number of people being called in for a face to face assessment in last few days or or weeks which could possibly have anything to do with the current CORVID-19 pandemic?

Just a thought!

Many thanks

Bubble

Hi Bubble

I am not aware of there being a below average number of people being called in for a face to face assessment in last few days, I have raised with the DWP concerns members have with home assessments and people gathering together at tribunals, not had a reply yet.
