PIP review was created by Tinker765
Hello,
I returned my pip review form on the 18th last month, today i got a test off the DWP saying we may need you to attend a consultation with a health professional before we make a decision.
I just gave them a call, to check for updates, she said my review had been sent to health professional, so i am guessing i am deffo having an assessment? I asked her this, she said not necessarily. But if i was not having a assessment then they would not of sent it to a health professional and done a paper based by decision maker.
I asked her if i can have a home assessment and that i did include a letter from my GP stating i needed a home visit. She said that is up to the health professionals to decide if they are able to or not.
Wish i did not get this text now it has set off my anxiety

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi Tinker765
It would go to a health professional to look at regardless of whether or not you have a face to face assessment. The decision makers are not health professionals and a claim is always looked at by one. So you cannot infer anything at this stage.

Oh really? I thought a pip review goes straight to the decision maker? And if they cannot make a paper based assessment it then goes to atos?

I'm sure i read in one of your guides, that review forms go straight back to the decision maker, who tries to make a paper assessment but if they're unable to they then send it to a health professional?

The DWP can make a Decision without referring the file to the Assessment Provider but it is extremely rare for this to happen, best guess is less than 1% of claims, the text you received means this did not happen for your claim. An assessor can still decide not to hold a face to face if they believe that there is sufficient information to make a recommendation to the DWP.
