Recording a phone PIP assessment? was created by Rainbownut
Hi,
I’m new here.
DWP received my first PIP claim this morning. I was planning on asking to record my face to face, but just wondered if anyone knows where we stand with recording a phone assessment now?
I sent 17 typed pages answering the questions on the form & 65 pages of extra evidence (I have over 6 diagnosis, so quite a few diagnosis letters & reports, plus diary & statements etc) so mildly hoping they might just do a paper based one, but want to be prepared for a phone call!
Thanks in advance ☺️

Hi Lisa
This is a unique situation. If you're in your own home, no one can stop you from recording the conversation. However, I would ring the DWP and ask them beforehand as they do not like covert recordings - so if you needed to use it later, they may not accept it.

Hi Laura
We have a very substantial guide on the PIP process and it will walk you through every step.
You can either download it - it is very large (93 pages)
www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/help-for-claimants/pip
or you can read each section of the same guide online in separate parts.
www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/help-for-claim...pip/pip-claims-guide
Have a look at page 14 from our guides: Telephone assessments.
