Are ESA Assessments being Cancelled?

I thought I read or heard on radio that all DWP face-to-face assessments are being cancelled for 3 months because of virus dangers - but maybe that only meant Job Seekers assessments? I ask because a family member ( ESA) received a Capability for Work questionnaire a week ago - which means an Assessment will follow. Their last Assessment was only 6 months ago so this is unexpected. I also heard that the government are trying to reduce the present numbers on benefits to counter the huge number now eligible for benefits because of the virus. This latter is most likely just an untrue rumour. Does anyone know if ESA face to face assessments still taking place? Has anyone got an ESA Assessment this week or during the next month or had one cancelled? Thank you.

Hi Zonky

All face to face assessments have been cancelled by the DWP for the next three months.

Reviews of ESA can happen from any time after three months from the previous assessment.

Your family member needs to go ahead and complete the form. Some people are now receiving telephone assessments or paper-based assessments.
