Hello Gordon, I am currently waiting to receive the paperwork for a claim to change from DLA to PIP, this was delayed because the DWP needed a letter from my wife that said she is relinquishing her right to act on my behalf, as she has been since my accident in 2007. The requested letter was sent to the relevant department on Monday 09/03/2020.However, I have not had a reply so far. Is the Coronavirus affecting the claims process? Ps when I first phoned the help line they asked me if I suffered from a serious mental illness that I had received hospitalisation for? The answer is yes.
There are no specific delays but like everybody else, DWP staff may have to self-isolate due to their getting the virus or potentially coming into contact with it, so reduced staffing levels may have an impact.
The DWP quote nine days for a letter to reach the right department and it often takes the PIP2 seven days to get to the claimant so you are still in this window but I would give the PIP helpline a call to make sure that the form has been sent and when this happened.
Gordon
