Tribunal help please was created by bassettsfarm
Hello everyone, well, after waiting 18 months for a PIP tribunal, I was given a date for next Thursday, April 2nd. I assumed I would be hearing that this will be cancelled, or just done as a paper hearing. But just now, I received a text and email message to remind me that my hearing is in 7 days time and telling me to arrive 15 minutes early. Do you think this is right? Has anybody else had theirs cancelled? I’m in a real panic as I’m staying indoors, the last place I want to go is a crowded court! Any advice or information gratefully received. Thank you

Contact the Tribunal Service. they were still doing Oral hearings at their venues last week but this may now have changed due to the new restrictions, they may offer a telephone hearing but it also may be a choice between adjourning which is likely to be at least three months or your switching to a Paper hearing.

Hi Gordon, just a little update. I rang the pip tribunal helpline number today, and was told that no, the hearing won’t take place in person, but the judge will call me at the time given for my hearing, and he/she would discuss it with me then, I’ll let you know how it goes. Prayers welcomed...I’m a wreck about this!

Make a bullet list of the issues that you think are important and keep it next to the phone.
The hearing being done over the phone may be to your advantage, it can be very intimidating sitting in a room being surveyed by the panel and you are avoiding all of that, also there will be less pressure on you to respond to their questions as quickly as possible, so you can take your time and think about what it is that you want to say.
Best of luck

Thank you, Gordon. Will do. I’m still dreading it, but less so than the face to face! I’ll keep you posted.

Hi Amanda
Wishing you the very best of luck. As well as Gordon's advice to have a list of bullet points - don't forget to have a glass of water close by. Being nervous can make your saliva dry up and make it difficult to talk.
