Hi Lisa51
From your post, do I take it that your PIP has stopped, if it has, then the SDP you got with your ESA claim will also stop as PIP is the qualifying benefit for the SDP component.
If your PIP has stopped then you will not get SDP. To get the SDP you have to be in receipt of a qualifying benefit such as the daily living component of PIP.

Sorry for the bad advice, for some reason I just didn't make the connection between the PIP and your ESA.
I'm afraid there is little that you can do until the MR is completed with one exception, I would start a new claim for PIP as soon as you can, if the Decision to close your original claim is revised then the two claims will be merged.
Your MR needs to concentrate on the reasons that meant you were unable to return the form, you can certainly mention your health problems if they added to the reasons why you didn't but the DM will not be looking at whether you should have had an award so don't complicate your MR by including information about this.
MRs were taking around 10-12 weeks before the virus outbreak, we have to assume, at least in the short term that this will increase.
If your MR is overturned then the SD Premium will be back paid from the date that it was stopped but this may not be automatic and your should contact the DWP office dealing with your ESA as soon as you can.
