Dla to pip transfer was created by chris
Hi all, I have sent in my pip claim form to transfer from dla in November 2019. I have received various letters including one informing me I was to have a home visit 24 March, (which I did not request) this did not take place due to new coronavirus advice but was never informed by them. 22 March I got another letter saying they have asked for further info from people involved with my care. 24 march another letter arrived stating they have looked at available information and still need to have a f2f but this time at a consultation centre and will be in touch when an appointment becomes available. Question is are they still doing f2f but dragging it out until safe to do so, or are they supposed to assess my pip claim either paper based or by telephone? Anyone had similar letters from atos recently?

Hi chris
There will be no reviews or reassessments of benefits for three months from Tuesday 24 March. The suspension covers all benefits and does not depend on you having been diagnosed with coronavirus or having to self-isolate.
Where an assessment has already taken place for PIP, the decision making process will continue.
If an assessment has been scheduled, the assessment provider should contact you to explain whether a paper or telephone assessment will take place. I would contact them for peace of mind.
Where awards of benefits are due to expire, the DWP will be extending end-dates so that your award continues at its current rate.

Hi gary, thanks for info. I understand the recent advice regarding f2f but still confused as to why they are still sending me letters advising me a f2f will take place and will send me an appointment when one becomes available, also why would they change the venue from home to assesement centre without explanation? Can they prolong my claim by insisting I have a f2f when things are back to normal or should they be proceeding now with either a paper or telephone assesement. Do you know of any other claimants going through same torture.
Thanks

Hi Chris
Some of the reasons why they sometimes change from home to centre, is a shortage of assessors or the assessment services have read something in someone's records that makes them think an assessment should be held in a centre. This quite often happens with people with mental health difficulties. (Not saying this is the case with you). Whatever the reason for the change - it is never explained in a letter.
We are not able to give you any satisfactory answer about why you are still receiving letters other than what we know which is if you had an assessment scheduled which you did, it is the assessment services who should contact you with what is going to happen. It's a waiting game I'm afraid and not pleasant for those waiting to hear.
