Telephone Assessments now?

My family member received an E50A a couple of weeks ago and it has to be sent off over Easter.
Are telephone assessments likely to follow? There seem to be contradictory things being said on here. It was said the DWP have said there will be no assessments at all (I thought they only said no face-to face assessments) but people have reported on here that they have had a telephone assessment. My family member is incapable or dealing with a telephone assessment - they will put the phone down on whoever calls - so they will have to phone me their carer. Also do not know what will be result of the phone being put down on them. Should I mention on the form that that may happen? Also my family member lives by themself and since I am self-isolating I cannot be with them when and if the phone call comes.Thank you.

My partner has a telephone assesment on Thursday. Told him it could last for I hour .He has copd and heart problems. I asked could I speak for him as he gets very breathless they said no he has to speak himself .will let you know how it goes .

Thank you Gary. I do not have power of attorney but am their carer. On the form it states if I fill in the form on behalf of the claimant (which I have) they need my phone number (which I have given). I am in my 80's and the relative is incapable of filling in the form by themselves.. They have been on ESA Support for many years not UC. Previously have taken over 3 weeks to fill it in - with me being with them while discussing and filling in one or two questions over a couple of hours in a day and then doing another question another day and every day they get very distressed and do not want to do it. This is why now they are incapable of filling in form as I cannot be with them. What is GDPR short for? I do not understand this. I am very worried about this assessment for the following reasons. Family member has life long psychiatric problems includes anxiety). For several years recently has had very little help - mental health help has recently become almost non-existent. Their past history is of attending or being an in-patient at hospital or appointments with psychiatrists. That has not happened recently. My relative now only has GP appointments and help from a charity. At a face-to-face assessment (with me present which reassures my relative) the assessor will see their condition. However if a paper assessment - there are no recent psychiatric reports - I fear the outcome. If a phone assessment - I know my relative cannot cope with talking to a stranger on the phone and may well put the phone down or say anything to end the conversation after 5 minutes. I have asked GP to send me letter stating relative cannot cope with phone assessment but realise after this post that now I should ask GP to write more about their condition. I still fear the outcome. But thank Benefits and Work for all the help you give everyone.
