I'd Submitted My PIP Application Before Corona

Hiya

So I submitted my PIP application about 7 weeks ago and 2 weeks ago received my last payment of my old claim. I had help from a local charity who were requesting DWP didn't call me for a face to face under the disabilities act because of how vulnerable I am and the amount of stress it was causing me.

I've been through a really unnecessary and drawn out process over the last 6/7 years due to DWP breaking the law and I haven't had a secure amount of PIP for longer then about 16/18 months at a time. Enough to break anyone?

The main point the gentleman helping me with my form tried to get across to the DWP was that I need someone to anticipate my needs with regards to my health and that I need an award based on what my needs are.

I know this isn't going to happen but I'm unable to assess my own needs and don't have a trusted person to do that for me, so who knows where the line between right and wrong is in this world and through this process?

I daren't call them to find out what's going on as not knowing feels way better than going through a phone call with them.

Wonder can anyone give me any indication on what I may need to expect?

Hi Sasha

I'm sorry that you don't have any support through this process. It is very difficult to tell you exactly what is going to happen so what I say is a guess not definitive.

Your paperwork was sent in well before the current crisis, so from what we understand and the experience of other members the work on your claim may be proceeding. However, we cannot give you any sort of timetable for this - and I doubt even the DWP themselves know. All face to face assessments have been cancelled for at least three months. Some claimants are having paper-based assessments done and some are being contacted about a telephone assessment.

The couple of members who have reported having a telephone assessment - one found it a positive experience and one less so (which is what we would probably expect). More than that I am unable to tell you at this stage. I am afraid as you are not able to phone them, it is a waiting game to see when you may hear from them.

Thanks for your response.

Given we already requested in the form that they make a decision based on my paperwork, I live in hope that they will (I guess at least that way it takes the edge off things for now).

Thanks again, Sasha.
