Hi, i was recieving lower rate. care and mobility dla for 15 years. I have just recieved my award letter for pip. Ihave been awarded lower rate for care £23.60 and mobility £23.60. I was under the impression there was no lower rate for daily care, only a standard rate. Also the award was given without a face to face. And to rub salt in wounds the award is for only 6 months. Has a mistake been made? Thanks.

Hi Presgeorge

It is a mistake, there is no lower rate for the daily living, if the letter states care then they are talking about DLA and not PIP. It could be with what is going on at this moment in time that they have just extended your original claim for 6 months.

I would contact them to see what is happening, did you put in a claim for PIP?

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. You were right it is a 6 month extension to my dla. I sent my pip form back in November and just assumed after 5 months waiting for a decision it was a pip award.
