Needs increased since first awarded DLA

Good morning,

My daughters DLA award runs out in September. She has a 2 year award of MRC and LRM.

Since the first application her needs have become much higher, shes been diagnosed with autism and functional neurological disorder, hypermobility and also now has an EHCP. She is also on a part time timetable at school because of her difficulties, on the recommendation of a consultant.

Sorry to ramble, my question is when l fill in the renewal forms that l have now received (of which l have a lot of evidence) , will they likely renew it at the same rate as it's a renewal or will they make a new decision based on the new evidence? I think the evidence calls for a higher award , do I NEED to say this explicitly in the renewal?

Thanks so much.

Treat it as a new claim, complete the form in detail and supply evidence as you can even if it was previously sent to the DWP.

She will only qualify for a higher Care award if you can show that she has care needs both day AND night. If she only has care needs during the day OR the night then the maximum award is MRC, however severe her issues maybe during the day or the night.

HRM will require to have a physical limitation on the distance that she can walk.#
