PIP Phone Medical Assessment was created by SashaJ
Hiya..

I'm currently waiting to hear back from the DWP after I submitted my PIP application form about 8 weeks ago.
I did request that I shouldn't be seen for a medical due to the overwhelming stress that it has been causing me and asked them to make a decision based on the previous paperwork they had.
I anticipate though that they will ask me to attend a medical via phone call or make me a drastically decrease offer.

*Trigger warning*

My boyfriend was murdered while I was on the phone to him some years back.. there's also only me and my young son here trying to survive on our own, so there's no way I could cope with a medical over the phone and hold it together as a parent.

What would I do if A. They requested me to attend a medical over the phone (even for me to call them to explain will be an ordeal for me in and of itself) or B. If they offer me a heavily reduced rate?

In advance, Thank you for your time and help.

Sasha.

Hi Sasha

I'm sorry about the terrible experience you have had.

When you submitted your original application and requested to have a paper-based assessment, did you offer any corroboration from a medical professional? If you did, then you should just wait and see what happens. If you didn't and it is possible to get a letter from a doctor then you should try and do so and submit it (keeping a copy). Now its possible your GP will not be willing to provide one in the current circumstances. If you can't get or don't have any corroboration to what you are saying then you will just have to wait and see.

If they offer you a phone assessment, you will have to write and say why it would be too distressing.

I'm sorry but there is very little else I can say in these circumstances. I can only hope you get treated sympathetically and they do a paper-based assessment with no trouble but as you know that is very much down to luck.

Sorry for the late reply and thank you.
I didn't and I'm going to struggle to get anything from my doctor.
I have been accepted back onto the metal health team and accepted for therapy but that all seems to of been swept under the rug for now as I haven't heard from them for months either, which is understandable.
Thanks it's good to know that I don't 'have to' put myself through the torture of a phone call. That would indeed make me extremely unwell and unable to function even at the most basic of levels and would take me a few days to come back from.

I still haven't heard anything from the DWP. It must be about 3 months now.

I guess I just wait and pray that they go easy on me.
