PIP review was created by Oali
hi I'd like some advice please. I'm considering asking for a PIP review as my chronic pain has increased affecting my health considerably. i didn't ask for a review earlier as I'd won my PIP award through a tribunal and couldn't handle the emotional turmoil again. reading the advice on this site I've decided to ask now as it increases the reimbursement payments if i get awarded the claim.
however i won't be able to get any new medical evidence from my G.P, even before this pandemic started my G.P surgery was under a lot of strain and it's next to impossible to get an appointment. i could request a letter over the phone but I'm doubtful i will get that either. I've got previous evidence that i can submit with the form. would it still be worth asking for the review? any help is appreciated.

Hi Ali

Only you can decide whether to report a 'change of circumstances'. In the current climate, nothing is going to be dealt with quickly. If you don't send in any additional evidence they may decide that they want to see you and therefore you will have to wait until the face to face assessments are up and running again. They may, of course, decide to do a telephone assessment or a paper-based review. Can't give you any idea on timescales.

Have you looked at our PIP Claim guide to see whether you would reasonably score the extra points you need for a higher award? A deteriorated condition does not always mean that you would score higher.

Be aware, reporting a Change will result in a new PIP2 being issued which you will need to complete as a new claim, this includes providing medical evidence, even if you have supplied the information before.

You will almost certainly be required to have an assessment, it may be possible to do this over the phone but it is possible that a face to face will be required and this will delay your claim until these are reinstated.

There will be a new Decision which will supersede your existing award, whatever the result is.

If you do decide to report a Change then you should do so in writing to the DWP office dealing with your claim and if you can, send it using a Tracked post so you have proof of delivery, the date of your letter will be used to set the start date of any new award.

hello, I have just found out about pip tests over the phone, I went for my pip medical in april 2018, I was given 3 years, but the report said something like. 'condition unlikely to improve in the longer term'. do you think I should keep a listen out for the phone? I don't usually answer the phone if I don't recognise the number, due to nuisance calls. but I do have BT 1571message service, would they leave a message? thank you.

Hi magpiejoe08

Before the lockdown, claimants were being notified 6 months before their claim ran out therefore you will probably hear around October this year. If we are still in lockdown then we may have more news, the latest news is that disability benefit awards are to be automatically extended by six months if due for reassessment in the next three months, the government has confirmed.
