Pip mandatory reconsideration. was created by Joey123
Hi there. I've had Pip now for over 3 years higher rate mobility and standard rate care. I recently had a F2F just before coronavirus hit and I have had my entire Piip award removed and effectively all my income wiped out. It seems to me from my experience the only purpose of these F2F is to find any means possible to reduce your award. Now I have been classified by the government as extremely vulnerable and told to self isolate for 12 weeks.. Now I feel disgusted by this decision especially at this difficult time to remove my income as I now have added stress of this appeal process and my loss of income. I will be writing to my MP to tell them about my plight. I was just wandering if you think this would be a good time to add at the end of the MR letter about my feeling etc or should I wait for the actual appeal to say this in my written submission letter.
Many thanks for your help.

Replied by Gary on topic Pip mandatory reconsideration.
Hi Joey123
You can either use the government form for your Mandatory Reconsideration which you can find in the link below www.gov.uk/government/publications/chall...ork-and-pensions-dwp
Or you can just write a letter with your name and NI on it - clearly marking it Mandatory Reconsideration.
I cannot see any problems with you adding how the decision has affected you.
You should contact the DWP for a copy of the assessment report ( if you have not already done so, I would phone them but again follow up the request in writing. Once you have the assessment report you will have a better understanding of how the DWP Decision Maker has come to their conclusions and will then be able to argue against them.
Your primary task is to show that you meet the criteria, there are many reasons you may have failed, you need to address each of these but don't get bogged down in criticising the assessment report unless you can clearly show that it is incorrect, it is a lot easier to argue the facts of the situation;
"the assessor recorded that I walked 50m, I did but they have failed to document that I had to stop every 10m for a rest due to breathlessness"
than their opinions
"based on my observations of the claimant walking I believe that they can reliably walk more than 200m.
Make sure that you understand the criteria that you are being assessed against you can put the best case forward that is possible but you won't score points if you do not meet the PIP Descriptors. Use our guides to help you www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/help-for-claimants/pip .
When you have a better idea of the issues with your claim, come back to the forum and we will do our best to help.
