Need help with PIP appeal was created by Susyq
Hi, I'm new to this and struggling to ask for help but I don't know what I'm doing. My anxiety is through the roof. I've been on PIP/DLA since 2011 for mental health problems and Rheumatoid Arthritis . Had an assessment in January and my PIP was stopped. I don't do myself any favours by not being able to let anyone including health professionals see how much I'm struggling. I got so low that I stopped going to all my appointments and was discharged from Mental Health and Rheumalogy for about a year. I've still been getting all my medications through my GP(apart from injections for RA) I rarely leave my house. Of course this was used against me because I didn't have much evidence of my conditions. I'm now back under the hospital but maybe too little too late. The report had a lot of inaccuracies and they basically didn't believe anything I'd said.
So I requested a mandatory reconsideration and I got the letter saying they've not changed their mind on the 11/4/20
As a result of now not receiving PIP my housing benefit has been drastically reduced (I think because my daughter lives with me) which Means I now can not afford to pay my rent.

Unfortunately I have to go down the appeal route and have just over 2 weeks till the deadline. I am terrified, every time I try to look at doing it I go into a panic. I've looked at the guide and get overwhelmed.
I would really appreciate any tips or advice on how to start, things to include etc

Sorry if I'm rambling on
Thank you

Whilst you need to provide your reasons for an appeal you do not have to go into detail when you make the request, so try and simplify this for your self by first of all making the request.

You can do this by completing an SSCS1 form which you then send to the Tribunal Service or you can request the appeal online, see

www.gov.uk/appeal-benefit-decision/submit-appeal

Once your appeal is submitted you can think about putting a submission together where you can show how you meet the criteria for a PIP award.

If you need help with explaining your limitations then come back to the forum.
