I had an assessment in January and made a right of access to optain my PIP report because I was disallowed mobility allowance...After reading my musculoskeletal report I discovered that I have been diagnosed with OSTEOARTHRITIS OF THE HIP by the HP nurse and that they have yoused this to deny my mobility ! Is this common practice as I have never had any problems with ethere hip or hips ? I have Osteoarthritis of my knee, arthritis and gout of feet knees elbows and hands as diagnosed by specialist and doctor....
The HP nurse is not qualified to diagnose that you have osteoarthritis and nor is it the point of an assessment. They may have put down incorrect information. You say that this has been used to deny you a mobility award. I assume the assessor did not think that your mobility was restricted by your osteoarthritis enough to meet the PIP criteria. If you wish to challenge this, you can put in for a mandatory reconsideration although you will have to put in for although it will be a late request.
