Worried: no ESA payment?! was created by nansen
Hello All,
I have been in receipt of ESA (I’m in the Support Group) for over 5 years.
I have also been receiving PIP since 2018 and in February this year submitted my PIP award renewal application documents.
I was due an ESA payment on Friday 8 May last (yesterday), but my understanding is that this should have been paid on Thursday 7 May last.
I have not received any ESA payment for either of these days (nor today, Saturday) – it gets paid into my bank account.
There is no reason that I can think of why I should not have received a payment – I have had no written / telephone notification from the DWP informing me that I am no longer entitled to ESA.
I am worried sick (forgive the pun!). I suffer from severe depression and anxiety and there have been various suicide attempts and hospitalisations in the past.
Can anyone suggest why the payment has not been made?
I appreciate that these are “strange times” and that the DWP is more than extremely busy.
ANY help / advice or suggestions would be more than appreciated.
Many thanks to the people at B&W for an excellent resource and also to users on this site: I have found it to be excellent.
Best regards to everyone and stay safe!
Nansen.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi nansen
I am not aware of any problems with DWP making payments, although it was a bank holiday on Friday. If your benefits are not in you account on Monday I would call them to see if there is any reason for non payment.

Hello Gary,
The ESA money has been paid in this morning. Normally it would be paid on Friday last. As this was a Bank Holiday, my understanding was that it would be paid on the Thursday.
Thanks for your reply, thanks for an excellent information and advice resource at B&W and thanks to service users who post to the Forum as this makes such useful reading.
Best regards to All,
