PIP descriptor justification. was created by Joey123
Hi there. I've just received my medical report for a recent PIP reassessment and I am totally confused as to what they are saying.

Basically on the activities where i have scored the same points but they have changed the descriptor to needing an aid or appliance to do the activity they have written in their justification that because I reported my fatigue happens "4 days a week ( which btw i didn't) which is the majority of days which is not today suggesting on the balance of probability i would need an aid to manage this activity as MSO notes i have adequate function in my upper/lower limbs. Therefore it is medically reasonable to suggest i need to use an aid or appliance to do activity"

So basically they are saying they are not suggesting i need an aid then saying i have adequate function in my limbs to use an aid. Then saying it is medically reasonable to suggest i need to use an aid or appliance to do this activity. ( which btw i have no idea what aid they are suggesting which would help me with my fatigue and depression!).

Anyway totally confused and bewildered.???
I feel they are trying to downgrade my descriptor from needing prompting to using an aid.

Many thanks for your help.

What Descriptor(s) are they recommending, it should be at the back of the report?

Well for Preparing Food, Getting dressed and Undressed and Washing and bathing in my original PIP award i was awarded 2 points for each of these activities with the descriptor that I needed prompting by someone. However in my PIP reassessment they have awarded me the same points but changed the descriptor to needing an aid or appliance to do these activities. They have justified this change of descriptor using the argument i mentioned in my first post above.

However their argument is saying that we can't give you the descriptor using an aid or appliance (even though i never asked for this change ) as I have adequate function in my lower/upper limbs. But then it goes on to say that it is medically reasonable to use an aid for this activity and then changed the descriptor to using an aid.or appliance .???? Biizare LOL.!!!!!

I hope you understood that.
Kind regards
Joey
