Hi, I sent in a MR in December after loosing my high rate mobility on DLA. Its my mobility that hinders me the most and has done for the last 28 yrs after an accident at work. I rand the DWP on 23rd and it hadn't been put on the system and she put it on whilst I was on the phone. March I rand again and was told there was a 12 week turnaround but with Covid it could be a bit longer. Well to date still nothing and I cant get through to DWP at all now. My fear is the letter has either got lost in the post or its still not been seen. I am worried as I have now retired in May and my mobility car has been extended to July 7th. Any suggestions anyone

Unfortunately, a large number of the PIP Decision Makers have been moved across to deal with the unprecedented number of new Universal Credit claimants and this has caused additional delays to those that already existed.

There is no required timescale for an MR to be completed within so there is little pressure that you can bring on the DWP yourself, your best bet is to involve your MP they may be able to get the DWP to assign some urgency to your case.

Hi Sue

I’m in the same situation as you. I sent MR in on 22 Feb. They received it by tracked post on 24 Feb. Spoke to DWP on 27 March who told me possibly 12 weeks due to the current situation with Covid-19.

I agree with Gordon’s suggestion to email your MP. Mine was very helpful when I was not getting my post last year when DWP invited me to apply for PIP from DLA and because they did not get a reply, stopped my DLA. He got it reinstated very quickly and they had to issue new letters of invitation and continue to pay DLA until they had made a decision which in my case was 2 points. So I put in an MR.

I’m also of retirement age and so was worried I would not be able to reapply but as long as you put in MR and then if necessary, depending on the DM’s decision, submit an appeal and if successful you will get your PIP.

Wishing you lots of luck and try not to worry.

Hi Wing and Gordon, Thanks for your replies but wing you say don't worry but I have a mobility car that has to go back before 7th July. I refused the payment 3 months ago of £2000 offered by Motability to had the car back then and chose to extend the lease till above date but will only now get £500. I am lost where I am without a car and with lockdown havent been out much. I have retired now so I will not be able to reapply for a Motability car due to my now age. I have been on dla since 1992/3 and was given it for life and now I have been given 10 points by pip for mobility. I will try to contact my MP.....

Hi Gordon, I have contacted my MP and she has said its unacceptable to wait from December for a MR and she will contact DWP, fingers crossed for a positive outcome.

Hi Sue

Let's hope it focuses the DWP's mind and you hear soon!
