Renewal & Reassessment was created by Bud
I've just seen a thread by Joey on length of award & had no idea about the 2 years & the under 2 years awards. Does that mean that we have to contact DWP & apply for our PIP, rather than wait for DWP to contact us?

I've got the usual two dates for the award which is from April 2020-July 2020. Then April 2020-July 2021. So should I be contacting them now, or wait until April 2021?

Thanks.

Hi Bud

If your award was for less than two years then it will be a renewal and a new PIP2, if it was more than two years then it should be a reassessment and an AR1, two years and it could be either.

Before the current crisis, the DWP was starting the assessments six months before the end of the award, renewals should be 14 weeks but I would start a new claim earlier than this to avoid a period without any payments.

The way things are at this moment in time I would contact DWP at the begining of next year and ask the question. A year ago DWP were starting the assessments one year before the end of the award, so it had been slipping back and then covid-19 came along.

Sorry I made a mistake there. It says on the 1st page that I get my award from April 2019 - July 2021. On the 2nd page it says that they will contact me again after July 2020. So any idea? I wouldn’t mind so much but they didn’t send the review form until October, stopped my award in March, then I got it back again at the end of April. So it looks like the extra 6 months grace that I thought I had was taken back
from me by awarding me from April 2019.

From your latest post, your award is for two years and three months so I would expect a reassessment with an AR1.

Thanks Gordon. I think I did realize this at the time but some how got confused along the way & forgot trying to juggle 2 x MR with us both going through it.

Another thing that puzzled me was when I got my award through MR it went from April 2019, this was when I was originally supposed to be assessed but they were 6 months behind with my assessment. My partner was supposed to be assessed at the same time, & he too got the extra 6 months. Yet when they gave him his award after MR they took it from February 2020 when his award stopped after his assessment. So they took my 6 months into consideration & took it off my award time, but not his. Any ideas why this would happen?

I'm sorry but I don't see where the six months you are referring to comes from.
