Mandatory Reconsideration update was created by wing
Hi
After several attempts of trying to speak to someone at the DWP, I eventually got through this morning to someone after waiting for an hour on hold.
They said a letter was sent out on the 7th May saying that there was no change in their decision not to award me PIP. I explained I have not received the letter and they said they would send a duplicate out today (16th June) because I would need it if I wanted to go to an Appeal.
She also said under ordinary circumstances, I would only have a month from the date of their letter to Appeal but because I did not receive the original letter, I should put on the Appeal form the reason for being late was original decision letter was not received. She said it would be taken into account and there were all sorts of extensions at the moment. She also said she would make a note of it on my file.
So after such a long wait, since 24th February 2020, (DWP to PIP claim started in August 2019) I now have to look forward to an even longer wait for an Appeal which from what I’ve seen from the posts on here could be anything up to a year or longer.
Anybody know if it is sooner and if they are they still doing telephone Appeals?

They are but my impression is that the rate of hearings is significantly down on what it was when they were able to do face to faces, even with the TS making Decisions without a hearing I think wait times are only going to extend.
