Hi, I'm helping my sister for a manual reconsideration. We're going to write a response going through the report which had lots of lies etc. My question is, can we request a letter from the gp saying about what my sister struggles with as they really know and how long can it take. I'd like to send it with my MR paperwork. Please advise & thank you for replying.
Yes, she can but she needs to speak to her GP first.
The GP may push back, saying that the DWP will contact them if they need the information, she will need to explain, persistently if necessary that now that a Decision has been made, the DWP will not be requesting anything further.
Next, she needs to make sure that her GP understands the criteria that she has been assessed against, her GP just saying that she has condition A is not going to help with the MR.
Lastly, she may need to pay; GPs are not required to provide these reports and there is a possibility they may refuse.
Don't lose track of the fact that an award can only be made if she shows that she meets the criteria for one, dealing with the report is important but if she has shown why she should score the points then it will be for nought.
