Can anyone tell me please, how long can a visitor stay as a guest in your house without you losing SDP?
My visitors (son & his girlfriend) will retain their own address and continue to pay rent and council tax on their own home. They want to come for about 4 weeks.
A friend asked the DWP and she was informed that they will be counted as living with me after 3 days/ I will need a reassessment after 3 days.
It seems crazy to me that you can’t have a friend or family come to stay without losing £66 odd a week.
Can anyone please advise whether this is correct?
Many thanks

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

The three days is rubbish.
The issue is whether they are living with you or visiting, someone who retains their own address, definition, is not living with you, however, the longer they stay the more likely you are to be reported to the Fraud line, I know this is a horrible thought but it does happen but I think four weeks should be OK.
