I have a doctors report for my daughter. She has Functional neurological disorder and is severely affected physically by the condition.

She cannot move below the waist and is awaiting a wheelchair after being referred by a physio.

Now heres the issue...this new report l have goes into great detail explining my daughters difficulties, not being able to walk, leg tremors and spasms, visual disturbance. She is awaiting a wheelchair etc. But then, the Dr says 'she has no physical concerns' for my daughter!?

So from what l understand she must be refering to the fact FND is a condition with the wiring of the brain, and the brain not sending and recieving the correct signals. So not physical?

But this is not right, dla are going to pounce on this comment and spin it around. I thoight i had read some caselaw about this very point. It was caselaw that showed that just because there is no identifiable physical cause, that doesnt mean the symptims are not there, somti g along those lines anyway

Sorry to ramble, l just dont think this is right. Also you would think there are 'physical concerns ' when a child cannot move half of their body!

I would welcome you help

Thank you in advance

I realise time is probably short as you talking about returning the form in your last post but have you tried to contact the Consultant to see if they will remove the phrase from the report?

Whilst it is a possibility that those assessing her might just read the last paragraph on the report from your description, there is lots of valuable statements about the limitations that your daughter has and what appears to be a definitive statement on her ability to walk.

So you need to balance the risks but it seems to me that you have far more to lose by not submitting the report than by not.
