Hi I have been put into the esa support group which I am happy about, I don’t understand what the disability premium is. I am claiming the higher rate of pip and have been awarded severe disability does one cancel out the the other. I am very confused. Thank you
In case you are not aware, your real name appears to be showing in the forum, if you want to change this then follow the instructions in the following FAQ
The Disability Premium is not payable with ESA but is replaced by the WRAG component, if payable and the Support Group component.
You should be receiving to other Premiums, both can be paid at the same time and in addition to your ESA award;
The Enhanced Disability Premium, paid because you are in the Support Group or because you have a PIP Enhanced Daily Living award. It appears as the Disability Income Guarantee on your ESA Entitlement Letter.
The Severe Disability Premium, paid because you have a PIP Daily Living award, you live alone or are considered to be living alone and no one claims Carers Allowance against your PIP award. This appears as money because you are severely disabled on your ESA letter.
