PIP Review Form was created by Sherinda
I just wanted to inform people that my pip review has been a shambles from start to finish. I suffer with several disabilities one being bi polar.
i was going through a really depressive episode when the dreaded brown envelope dropped on the mat. It was a pip review form. I struggled to fill it in and had a complete meltdown over the phone when telling them and asking for an extension. The lady was very kind and gave me an extension and said someone from the DWP would come and help me. Big, big mistake! The lady came in due course and completed the form for me. We chatted and i told her that there was no change really, her son distracted her by phoning twice, and when the form was completed i signed it without reading it and she never read it back to me (my mental health really failed me here). I had to phone and ask for a copy of said form and when it arrived she had barely filled it in, in most descriptors she had written "no change.'' i could have done that myself. Then came the health assessment. i never received a copy of the ha's report until i phoned to ask for one and i was also told my award - which had dropped from Enhanced for both down to Standard for both. i was offered a mandatory reconsideration immediately to which i answered yes, not knowing that i had four weeks to apply for an mr.
To cut a long story short, as usual the report was full of lies. i was looking for advice regarding a mandatory reconsideration but before i got any, the new decision was made 10 days later before i had chance to submit any further evidence. i decided to appeal with the help of the CAB which was May 2019. Fast forward to Saturday 14 June 2020, a letter arrived giving me the time and date of my hearing which will be on Friday 24th June at 11.30 just 10 days later. Please check all documents said the letter. what documents? i'd received no documents. I phoned the court who said they'd send me a set out. They arrived on Thursday 18th June which hint given me much time to prepare. i have been so stressed my mental health nurse has written a report to say how severely this appeal has affected my mental health. i also phoned the DWP to let them know that i had not received any court documents and they said that they had sent them in October but that they hadn't sent me their Defense Letter so they would sent a complete set through. Fishy or what!! Ive managed to send some further evidence which has been accepted but I'm still writing my challenges for the ha's report, however at this late stage it will not be accepted even if i email it through. so much of it is wrong. Will i have my asy on Friday? Who knows! i doubt it and how much do you say before it becomes to much. i certainly do not think that this has been worth the stress. I was just wondering if anyone else has had this done to them and its just another dirty trick used by the DWP.

What happened to the support from the CAB?
You can try contacting the Tribunal Service to ask for an adjournment.
Tribunals are not like a criminal case where the prosecution and then the defence present their cases, the panel will investigate how you meet the PIP criteria through a series of questions, you will then be given a short period to present any additional points that you wish to raise.
So, I would stop trying to present a detailed response unless the hearing is delayed and instead produce a bulleted list with some notes that you can use during your slot at the end of the hearing, one of the items should certainly be when you received the appeal papers.
I would also go through our PIP Claim guide so that you are familiar with the Descriptors that you are trying to score against, you don't want to waste your time arguing something that won't actually score you points.
Some practical advice, I assume this is a telephone hearing;
- have a glass or better still a jug of water available
- make sure you are seated in a comfortable chair, you are going to be there a while
- have the papers available, so you will need to be sitting at a table or similar, if you need to refer to a particular document then do so using the handwritten number usually in the right-hand top corner
- pen and paper in case you need to make notes
- if you can't hear or understand what is being asked then ask them to repeat the question
- you cannot record the hearing even for personal purposes
