Info for those whose PIP award ends soon was created by Kevsue19
Just sharing what I have been told this morning, I phoned DWP as on Saturday my husband received a letter saying his carers allowance would end on 17/7 as my PIP would then end. I had heard nothing and panicked thinking they had done a paper assessment and decided I was no longer eligible!
The lady on the phone explained that due to a “glitch” in the system, if you had sent in your completed review before the start of the coronavirus period (mine was received on 14/2) and it was loaded on the system then you are in “holding” and they are unable to amend the end date until just before that date, sometimes actually on that day. Whilst the carers team knows this, their computer still sends the computer generated letter saying that carers allowance will end.
She confirmed that my award would be extended for 6 months (she actually said it could be extended again then as they don’t know what’s happening yet) and I will get a letter through the post just after the 17/7 (when my award is due to expire) She said my husbands carers allowance would automatically update when they change the expiry date in mine - but we plan to phone on 18th to make sure!
Hope this stops anyone panicking like I did, and I only waited 15 minutes for the call to be answered (I phoned at 9)

I would still contact the Carers Unit to confirm that your CA will remain in payment.

Yes I will phone them, but the lady said it wasn’t worth phoning them until after 17/7 when they will have extended my renewal date . Why they can’t work together......! I console myself with the fact the letter from the carers allowance did say they would backdate anything if my PIP was renewed on that date.
