Can I ask for a pip review? was created by Liz Howie
My condition has worsened, does this need to be a change of circumstances or can I ask for a pip review. I am in receipt of high rate care and low rate mobility for an ongoing period?

The first question to ask yourself is whether the deterioration will allow you to meet the criteria for an Enhanced award of PIP Mobility, I assume you already have a PIP award and not a DLA one?

If you are reasonably certain that it will then you need to report a Change of Circumstances, asking for a review is the same, this needs to be done in writing to the DWP office dealing with your claim, if you can send it using a Tracked post so you have proof of delivery as the date of your letter should be used to set the start date of any new award.

Be aware, reporting a change will result in a new PIP2 being sent, not an AR1 and you will need to provide evidence not only of the change but in support of your Daily Living award. The new Decision, whatever it is, will supersede your existing award.

Hi LH

The first question to ask yourself is when does my current claim stop, PIP can continue to be paid after you reach pension age, but you must establish your entitlement by making a successful claim before you reach that age.

If you report a Change then you should do so in writing as the date of your letter will be used to set the start date of any new award, Ideally, send it using a Track'd post so that you have proof of delivery.

Before you report a Change you should be certain that you would reasonably qualify for a higher award, not all deterioration or even new conditions will result in your scoring the points you need for a higher award. See our PIP Claims guide for the criteria that you will need to make, we have a very substantial guide on the PIP process and it will walk you through every step, it is very large (107 pages) www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/help-for-claimants/pip

If you report a Change then you will be sent a new PIP2 to complete and it is almost certain that you will be required to have some sort of assessment, your evidence will need to be very clear and compelling for a Paper Based Review to be done.
