Hi, can anyone advise please? I am currently in receipt of housing benefit. I am on ESA, PIP and Severe Disability Benefit (premium?). We are both in our 60s and disabled, we are thinking of moving out of the area which would involve a different council. My local council have said as far as they know I would have to apply for Universal Credit and therefore lose my housing benefit etc;. They said the one thing that might keep me from going on to Universal Credit is the fact that I am in receipt of Severe Disability Benefit. Can anyone give me any information about this please? Thank you.
If you are currently receiving the Severe Disability Premium as part of your ESA, described as "money because you are severely disabled" on your ESA letters then you are currently barred from claiming UC and can only make a claim for Housing Benefit.
