Lack of supporting evidence at this time? was created by Sophie1985
My partner has sufferd from depression and social anxiety for a number of years however he has only recently found the courage to talk to his GP about this. He has been prescribed medication for anxiety and panic attacks and has been referred for CBT therapy, he's had his initial interview with the team who arrange the CBT but has been told there is a 2+ month waiting list for his first session.
At this point all we have as evidence is his medication and a letter referring him to CBT for Social anxiety and low mood.
Is this enough to start a claim for UC and PIP?

Have you looked at the criteria for PIP and UC to see whether your partner would have a reasonable expectation of an award?
Have a look at our PIP and UC/ESA Claim guides on the following links.
www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/help-for-claimants/pip
www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/help-for-claimants/esa1
As to your evidence, it is what it is, you should certainly have a look to see if you can provide anything else, for example; would their GP be willing to help.

Hi
I was put is ESA support group and got PIP enhanced with very little in the way of evidence. Which is shocking when people have heaps of evidence and often get nowhere. I’m sure the more the better especially if you go all the way to appeal but I suspect with the medical and the mandatory reconsideration it might not make too much of a difference.
I’ve got anxiety, social anxiety, personality disorder but as it’s my nature to avoid contact as much as possible I just cannot tolerate going to CBT, etc...I’ve tried but can’t wait to get out of the room and whatever is said goes in one ear and out of the other.
As I consequence I don’t have much evidence to submit. I was just really thorough in filling out the forms and being as honest about my issues as possible no matter how embarrassing and hard for me to write down.
One thing I would say is don’t let him go to medical on his own, not that i think you would, as that would be pretty much zero points. Luckily I had someone take me to both medicals without that I would have got nowhere.
I would also look very closely at the risk clauses. I have not explored all the documents yet so I don’t know if there is much on that but it seems to be a good way of getting the benefits you are entitled to.
Good luck.
Mark

Hello
This is my first post here.
I also suffer with Anxiety and Depression. I do not claim pip and have not put in a claim for pip or any benefit so my advice is not from personal experience.
I have been doing some research including reading the articles on this site and various other outlets. I am in a very similar situation to yourself as I have not seen a doctor in a very long time and I also have very little evidence. I am not sure if this is correct but if I did put a claim in for PIP then like Mark has already stated I would be as thourough as possible and be truthful in what you put down (which you should be doing anyway)
A few ideas I had for evidence to support a cliam would be possibly a:-
1.) Letter from your GP
2.) Letters fron Friends and Family explaining the troubles you have.
3.) Keep a PIP Diary for 30 days and write in that diary all the problems you have that meet the descriptors. This will give evidence and also help you to fill in your pip application form.
4.) Also when you fill out your PIP application form include some real life examples of problems you have that match the descriptors your are claiming against.
I hope that helps and if I have given some wrong advice I would request that one of the Mods correct my information.
I hope this can be of some assistance.
