PIP Review was created by Yorkyboy
Hi,
I received my PIP review form (dated 5/3/20), filled everything in & included plenty of professional updated evidence, posted back (recorded delivery)..rang DWP a few weeks later to make sure they'd received it...the answer was they received it on 27/3/20 and it was on their system, obviously by then we were into the Covid19 situation, I gave it about 2 months & then gave them another call ...after about a 45 minute wait I was told I might have to be assessed either by a telephone call or f2f..that was about 2 months ago and I haven't heard a thing since...my PIP is due to finish on 4/9/20 (it was a 4 year award)..obviously I don't want to have to start from scratch again...but there is now only a 4 week window.
I am also in receipt of ESA (support group with severe disability award) this was won @ appeal in August 16 ..the award was for 2 years...it was renewed on a paperwork review in August 18...but I can't see a renewal date on the last paperwork..so I presumed it may be the same as the first ..2 years...meaning I should be receiving some more paperwork now ....any ideas on the best way forward without stirring up a hornet's nest ?
Many thanks.

Hi Seahawk

Re: PIP - I would contact them again and remind them that your PIP is going to expire. They may well be offering an extension, but as you haven't heard yet - you need to find out.

Re: ESA - they were behind with renewals even before the lockdown (though they didn't officially say so - but I would just wait and see. They don't always put a review date on them - they are usually on 1, 2, or 3-year renewals (though some have gone on a great deal longer). If you're worried - phone them.

Hi,
Just a quick question...the DWP have informed me that my review was loaded onto their system on 27/3/20 ...9 days before the due back date of 5/4/20...surely if they then don't reply before the PIP finish date of 4/9/20 ....it's their fault....presumably I wouldn't have to start again from scratch as they have all my information loaded on their computer (which obviously I have copies & postage receipts of) plus the dates of the telephone calls I made, which they should have recordings of....is that correct ?
Many thanks.

If you have a Fixed Term award then it will end on the End Date unless the award is replaced by a new one or the DWP extend it, delays in the assessment process will not have any direct effect on the End Date.

Providing the assessment process was started before the End Date, which it was, then any new award will start no later than the day after the current award ends even if the Decision is made later than this.

Hi Seahawk I was in the same position re PIP as mine was due to expire in July. I did phone a few times and they reassured me I would get a letter just before the expiry date, which I did! This confirmed an extension until January. I then got a letter for a telephone review which I had last week. They quoted 8-10 weeks for a decision. So they have started looking at reviews again, mine was sent back in February, one very nice call handler explained that due to computer issue, those of us who were already in the system could not be sent an extension letter until close to the expiry date of the award. Hope that helps but phone them to put your mind at rest
