Using a recording and other PIP questions

Hi there

Just been on the phone to capita. As my assessment is this Friday. I requested for it to be recorded, advised I'm not allowed as they don't have correct recording facility's at the moment but it is something they are trying to implement in the near future. I insisted I need this assessment recorded, they basically continued to repeat themselves, I said can I record it myself, was advised I'm not allowed to do this as they can be easily manipulated. So I asked to log a complaint, spoke to someone in customer resolutions who was as hard faced as the previous member of staff, I said how is this a level playing field if I was allowed to record a face to face assessment and now that right has been completely taken away from me. I also quoted therese coffees words about recordings. I explained I don't feel comfortable at all having done without it being recorded due to the amount of assessments that get overturned at tribunal because something is disastrously wrong with how these assessments are being carried out. The lady then said leave it with me as I'll have to come back with some options as I said this was in no way a resolution to my call. She said maybe we might be able to do a paper based assessment based on the info given to us but don't take my word for it. She said she will call me back today or tomorrow with options.

It really wouldn't surprise me if itd another year that goes by that they can't record them, I even explained the other health company are already doing them since September so capita have had as much time and notices them.

I will keep you updated on this as soon as I get a call back. If anyone has some guidance on this I would be most grateful. Thanks for all of your help

Hi tambc

I have moved your post to its own thread. Just one thing about what you said - IAS aren't fully set up for recordings even if they are further ahead than Capita. Several members have reported that they have been refused recordings.

It will be interesting to see if they do come back and give you a paper-based assessment.

Replied by tambc on topic Using a recording and other PIP questions
Phone call back from capita after chasing up the call the other day, customer resolutions full of apologies, they had a meeting after my complaint was raised regarding recording of telephone assessments. They were unaware recordings were available as very few centres have the recording facilities at the moment and said I had been misadvised as the recordings have only just begun by capita, but only very minimal. I have been offered a recorded assessment in 2 weeks time, I will be sent a copy of the recording in CD format. 2 weeks was the furthest they could push it back due to there systems.

But my advice is to all those who want a capita assessment recorded, they may still advise you this is impossible, but be very persistent. Make sure you ask to log a complaint, speak to customer resolutions and don't back down. You will be offered a recording. I hope this info is of help to you all awaiting assessments. Thanks
