Doctor wont help re PIP was created by Diane858
Hi

I hope everyone is well.
So i printed the tick box forms off to ask my GP for support with my new PIP claim But i have been told he cannot do this as it would be leading them and they aren't allowed to do that? he will also not write a letter for the same reason?
Im wondering if the DWP have told them to do this as he was happy to write a letter of support for my ESA claim?

I am feeling so stressed and very upset as my gp knows my problems and struggles very well,
All i can do is print off everything from my medical records etc and send in my letter written for my ESA etc
Is it usual for GP's to refuse to help with PIP claims?

Thank You xx

Hi Misty

We have heard on the forum from a number of members who have had the same problem, I have no idea why your doctor would refuse to help you but we do live in strange times, have you asked him directly why he will not write you a support letter? Sometimes receptionists will block requests without the doctor even knowing.

Only print off medical records that will support your claim, if you receive support from anyone ask them if they will write you a supporting letter explaining what support they give you and why.

There is the issue that he doesn't actually know first hand what your problems are, and I think that's what the DWP's attitude is.
I paid for an Occupational Therapy Report for my last PIP assessment, which cost a bit less than £300 I think, but seemed to do the trick.
An OT report means a professional has observed you in your home, so I don't think the DWP can easily discount it.
Good luck x

Dear Misty,

I did not have a report from my last GP surgery and I got PIP 2 years ago.

The GP’s kept changing everyday, they did not know me as I did most telephone consultations by phone because of my disability, so I did not ask them for a report.
Instead I used a prescription list, patient summary report and full report from their system together with explaining in details how my health problems prevented me from doing things like cooking, bathing, moving around etc, my diary, medical reports from specialists like mri’s, xray, ultrasound etc and I got pip with 2 standard rates.
And now I would like one I was recently merged with a hospital, no doctors knows me so I do not know what to do yet.

Good luck.
Best wishes
