PIP Reminder and Extension was created by Elliot Downs
It’s my first time applying for PIP, I’ve had my form through and my deadline was the 11th December. However, I’ve just had a letter through and they have given me a two week extension until 25th December.
I’m just a little confused, I didn’t ask for an extension. Will this effect the application in any way? For example, if I miss the 11/12 deadline - will it effect any backdated payments?
Is this common practice for an application that is nearing the deadline?

Hi ED
Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is

In case you are not aware, your real name appears to be showing in the forum, if you want to change this then follow the instructions in the following FAQ
My full name is showing, how can I stop it?
No it will not affect your application, if you get your application back by the due date then if successful your claim should be backdated to the date on the form.
At this time of year post can be erratic, don't forget to send your application by recorded delivery and include supporting evidence.
Have a look at our PIP Claim guide for a better understanding of the criteria you will need to meet.
