Hi Ann, Congrats on you award for the support group and thanks for posting back to outlinine what is horibbly complicated. My PHI insurance started to pay this month, its just £700 p/m and not enough to cover the bills independently. I have had telephone assessment and i'm currently waiting for a decision about ESA support group, I currently claim CB ESA. I feel I should declare this to DWP but im not sure how or where to start!? Do you have a copy of the template of the letter you sent handy? Would be really much appreciated.
I've moved your post to its own topic, we ask members not to post their questions in other member's topics as it can lead to the wrong advice being given or taken.
You need to contact DWP and inform them of your PHI insurance payment as you could be hit with an overpayment. Although CB ESA is based on your NI contributions and therefore is not means tested, if you are placed in the Support Group then this is means tested.
I would phone DWP ESA's enquiry line: 0800 169 0310, make sure you get the persons name who you speak to, you will need to give them the information of your PHI insurance, they may want to see documentation, ask them if they need original or copy, also confirm in a letter what has been discussed and agreed.
