PIP Renewal delay & Carers allowance stopped

Hello everyone, I was wondering if anybody else is suffering the same problems?
My PIP award ended 11th January 2021, my renewal claim was returned and received by the DWP 10th December 2020. My wife’s carers allowance has now been stopped as from 11th January, because of my PIP period ending. I rang up the DWP today and 55 minutes later I was told that they didn’t have a clue and my claim was handed to the assessment agency ( formerly autos) and I should contact them. The decision maker would not be able to act until my form is returned back to the DWP with the assessment conclusions. I duly rang them and asked for the status of my claim and was informed that it was a waiting game? They would decide if a telephone assessment would be needed, or possibly my claim form and evidence would be sufficient enough. But when this would happen, she had no idea.

I have received PIP since 2013 since transferring from DLA. I receive higher rate care and lower rate mobility. So in the meantime while I’m waiting for a decision, my wife’s caters benefit has stopped and I’m worried my PIP will now stop. I know these are unprecedented times and I can allow for that, but It’s money we really rely on and it’s so frustrating and worrying that we have to just wait and see what happens. Maybe the DWP will carry on the PIP payments until they make the decision. This is my 3rd time having to claim since 2013, so I really can’t imagine they would think things are any different or better. And if they did continue payments in the meantime, why would they stop carers allowance? None of it ever makes any sense, who ever I ring.
Any thoughts or advice gladly received.
Best Wishes, Jonathan :(

At review my PIP was stopped 6 October last. At the very same time they stopped HOusing Benefit, Council tax support and my Carers Allowance for looking after my husband. We were immediately in financial jeopardy so I had no choice but to apply for ESA. Two weeks ago I was put in the Support Group for ESA with no telephone assessment so whilst I am appealing the PIP decision and have a tribunal hearing next month, I cannot help but wonder why one department can award a benefit just relying on medical evidence yet another cannot see beyond a poorly conducted and unprofessional PIP review assessment. Good luck with your case.

Dear Jonathan, and Mrs, I fear your fear is correct that your PIP will also stop. However you could, long shot depending on what they are like and how much admin help they can afford, try contacting your MP? bank of mum and dad had to sub our daughter for months when they did this to her last year. Her form had gone in weeks before lockdown, and her award ended end-Jan and they did not assess her for months. It's especially an issue for people who won their award at Tribunal. Cynically you might say fancy that, they er, dislike being proved wrong in front of higher authority. Totally agree about long-term conditions - but IMHO they are tasked to get everyone's award down that they can by ignoring the improbability of improvement. Best wishes, Denby
