PIP Q: Should you reference undiagnosed conditions was created by MissVeeBee
Hello,
I'm helping my 18 year old to complete a PIP Claim form and have bought the guides.
He has X2 officially diagnosed conditions, Anxiety and Emotional Intensity (BPD)
He has a referral for an ADHD Assessment.
When answering the questions, do you mention at all the undiagnosed conditions or just stick to the diagnosed ones only.
Thanks

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi Miss Vee Bee
I would personally include undiagnosed conditions particularly if you can say there has been a referral for an assessment. Your application has to be stronger if it has been diagnosed, but nothing you can do about that. The fact that a referral has been made means that someone believes there is evidence of the condition. (It is also possible that by the time the assessment comes round there will be formal diagnosis.)
Remember PIP is about how your conditions affect you, not what the conditions are. So when it comes to completing the descriptors you really can’t leave out those effects out. If your son has certain difficulties because of a condition, whether or not it has been diagnosed, those difficulties are real and I can’t see why you would not include them on the form.
Well done for taking on helping your son with this. Not an easy task for either of you. And please, when you have finished and sent it off, spend some time together focusing on the positives of his life and what he can do!
