Hello everyone, I am confused My 5 yrs award was due to end in Feb. 2021
I received the pip extension letter in late sept last year that my award was extended to November 2021 But 8 weeks later the I received the PIP review form in December 2020.
Today I received what looks like a decision letter that they looked at my claim a gain and my award is kept the same standard and enhanced rates for living and mobility components respectively, However that is still until November 2021
I thought after reviewing the claim the minimum award period would be 2 years but after the review I only got 8 months which is the same as extension date
I am totally confused and do not know what to do to call and ask for a MR or what else? Please help
. Thank you

Hello Mark,

I am sorry you have been waiting for a while to receive a reply to your post. Particularly over the weekends our volunteer team tend to not be around as much. I know this is no consolation to someone whose post appears to have just disappeared into the ether.

I am not going to attempt to answer your question in the hope that one of the other mods has come across the confusing and frustrating scenario you describe - so another apology. I have left your follow up post with your update showing as unmoderated, and so invisible to you. That way it is more likely to be spotted by another member of the team as soon as they are around.

Sorry not to be of more help on this occasion.. You never know, now this post is visible on the forum one of the other members may have met similiar behaviour by the DWP.

Hi Mark

My have you tried your MP, I found mine most helpful, they are good at getting to the bottom of things and I got my award extended by one year on top of a three year award.

Hi Mark12

Your best bet is to contact the DWP and find out what is going on, it could be an error by the DWP but until you make the phone call you will not know.

We did have another member on the forum a little while ago in a similar situation, it turned out to be a clerical error.

Let us know how you get on.

Hi Mark, I had the exact same problem. The assessor wrote 'we can award you PIP for a longer period of time as your needs are continuing and not expect to improve' and then it was for eight months - the same end date. Turned out to be a clerical error, hope yours was too. This seems to be more and more common the last month or so.

I think during covid they are extending PIP and giving extra months before your review, I would take it that the date they have extended your pip is the time that a full review is intended... be prepared to fill in the form for a review. However, taking on board what you have said, I would ring the DWP to explain what the letters mean in reality ....
