Severe disability premiums was created by percey
Hello,
I've recently bee awarded the standard rate for the daily living component of PIP. Following this I've had letters regarding the severe disability ability premium ,as I receive ESA in the support group.
I've filled them in and sent them off as required weeks ago but haven't heard back. The information I've read online seems to indicate that this something I will qualify for, but it would be good to verify this. I was unaware of its existing as atop up prior to this.
Also should I contact the DWP to ask further?
Many thanks.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi percey
The SDP became payable from the first day that all three of the following applied.
1. You had an award of ESA and we’re receiving or were entitled to receive Income Related ESA or Pension Credit.
2. You had an award of PIP Daily Living
3. You met the criteria for payment of the SD Premium, namely that you lived alone or were considered to be living alone and no one receives Carers Allowance against your PIP award.
It is taking longer for forms to be processed, did you send it by recorded delivery?
To put your mind at ease, contact DWP to check that they received the correspondance you sent in and at the same time ask how much you will receive and when it will be paid from.
