Sorry for sounding a bit thick but I see many posters with PIP queries refer to "MR" as something important. I presume MR means Medical Review or perhaps Medical Report.
Is the significance of "MR" explained more fully somewhere on this site?
Hi Finni, Unfortunately those of us that often deal with benefits and enquiries often slip into jargon, and abbreviations. Apologies! MR is an abbreviation for Mandatory Reconsideration. Just to explain, if you make a claim for benefit, or your benefit has been reviewed if you disagree with the decision you can ask for a Reconsideration. It is called mandatory because you have to make an MR before you can take the case to the appeal tribunal. To make an MR you would normally write to DWP and explain what you think is wrong with the decision and you can also include the level of points you think are correct. Sometimes DWP will agree with the MR request and will revise the award to the correct value and you won't need to appeal to the tribunal. I hope that explains everything! LL26
