War pension and IR ESA was created by Andy
Could someone point me in the right direction, where I can find info regarding claiming a war disablement pension whilst on IR ESA and the impact it may have on IR ESA as well as other benefits

Many thanks.

Hi Andy,
Unfortunately I am no expert in war pensions, however I can tell where to get more information. Please call Veterans UK Helpline 0808 1914 218.
I am aware that there is a compensation scheme, as well as the war pension. The amount payable depends on your level of disability. As far as I am aware war pensions do not affect means tested benefits.(It is not treated as income, and there us no benefit cap.)
You can also find information here:
www.gov.uk/government/collections/armed-forces-compensation

I hope this helps.

There is only a £10 disregard of the basic War Pension if claiming Income Related ESA.

If you are claiming Universal Credit though, the whole basic War Pension is disregarded.

It gets very complex is if you are awarded certain War Pension Supplementary Allowances, such as Unemployability Supplement (Unsupp) or Allowance for Lowered Standard of Occupation (ALSO) for example.

A whole can of complex worms opens up and it needs subject specialists such as the Veterans Welfare Service or Royal British Legion Money/Welfare Team etc to ensure you don’t lose out and that both the DWP and Veterans UK have worked out your entitlement correctly!

The online benefits calculators do not work well at all for veterans in receipt of War Pension supplements (and sometimes basic War Pensions) so do not rely on them to be correct.
