ESA Telephone medical. was created by digitalrace
Hello,
After years of paper based assessments for PIP and ESA I've unexpectedly been asked to do a telephone assessment after recently submitting an ESA50 for reassessment of my ESA.
I have three questions:
1.Do I have to request that my medical be recorded or is it done automatically?
2.Does DWP still use LiMA?
3.Is the Health Assessment Advisory Service a private company like ATOS and Maximus?
Kind regards

Hi commited
I had not heard of LiMA so had to do a bit of digging
In answer to your questions:
1) Assessments are not yet recorded automatically, we recommend claimants make a covert recording, see page 93 on our PIP guide. If you ask your assessment centre to record the interview then it could delay your claim.

2) Did not know what LiMA was so had to look it up. The assessors - who are nurses, doctors or physiotherapists - are guided and prompted by a computer programme, designed by Atos in conjunction with the DWP, called the 'Logic-integrated Medical Assessment' or 'LiMA'.
I do not know if this is still being used.
3) I believe that the Health Assessment Advisory Service is another name for Maximus which is a private company.
