And how would that effect my] disability benefits?
Should I claim universal credit?
I am on ESA with top up on both.
Pip both most severe.
I am an autistic cripple.

Hi Pip,
Yes, you can claim PIP and Universal Credit at the same time, many people do!
However, if you are currently claiming ESA, you wouldn't need to change to UC just to claim PIP, as you can claim ESA znd PIP together too!
ESA is a benefit for people who are too ill or disabled to work. UC is one benefit with various elements all combined, the theory being that several previous benefits were all dealt with by different Government departments which was unnecessary, so under UC one department deals with this now. Under UC, like ESA there is an element that provides benefit for those who are too ill to work. The test for ESA and UC in this respect is exactly the same.
Some people are better off under UC, but some are not!
If I understand you correctly you are currently on ESA. If you live alone, or without other adults, and no one claims Carers Allowance for looking after you, then you may be eligible to claim extra money on your ESA this is called Severe Disability Premium or SDP. This is no longer available with UC, and whilst there is what is called transitional protection, the value of this will decrease. If you get Housing Benefit SDP is still available, but not for Housing Allowance paid under UC.
So, if there is any possibility that you can claim SDP now, or do actually get it, it is likely you will not get as much benefit under UC.
Please ask a local CAB or benefits advice centre to check your benefit entitlement before you consider moving to UC. You do not need to change to UC unless certain things happen, such as relationship break up, or moving to a different Local Authority area.
Please make sure you are absolutely clear about how much money you will get under UC before making a claim. You can continue on ESA at the present time.
Your PIP award may permit additional money via SDP if you qualify. Your ESA or UC if you do claim will not be reduced if you have PIP.
I hope this helps
