Incorrect answer during PIP assessment

I had my first ever PIP assessment yesterday, on the phone. I am essentially just claiming for difficulties with 'planning and following a journey' on the basis of very complex continence conditions.

My assessment lasted over 2 hours and towards the end I was asked about my journeys. Apart from a few very short and familiar train journeys, I said I'd made one long (55 minutes) train journey to London. The assessor asked me if I did the journey on my own to which I incorrectly answered 'yes'.

I'm so cross with myself because my husband was with me for the entire train journey, there and back, to help with my anxiety around my continence problems when following a journey. I was getting tired towards the end of the assessment and I guess my mind just latched onto when I was at my destination in London where I was on my own for a while.

Is there a way to rectify my mistake? I'm concerned it'll look like I'm changing my story to suit.

Hello Marsha and welcome to the forum.

You can send a letter saying what you have put in your post. You might also want to explain why you made the mistake - anxiety, tiredness etc etc. You can also ask your husband to write a letter confirming the support he gave you on that trip. Make sure you put your name and NI number on the top or bottom of each piece of paper.

Am I correct that I should send my letter to DWP rather than Independent Assessment Services?

Yes, that is right. To the same address in Wolverhampton as you sent your original PIP application form.
