LEAP Letter was created by anees292
Hello
I had requested for review LEAP few month ago. Received letter from DWP and as usual same words written what we know, "we have looked again at your PIP and it has not changed".
I have been awarded four points in planning and following a journey in December 2019 but in November 2016 was awarded 10 points in moving around and nothing in else. Now I asked them if you awarded me four points in Planning and following journey then why you haven't been award me in 2016 as I am in same medical condition and doesn't changed my circumstances.
But they haven't written any answer for me just the same words and that's all. Need some advise for further what can I write or what should I do. As always your advise will be appreciated.

Hello Anees,
The LEAP review you requested a few months ago can be treated in the same way as any other DWP decision. You have the right to request a Mandatory Reconsideration, and if you still do not agree with their decision you can appeal the decision.
One problem which might have happened with the review is that they will have gone back and looked at your previous assessment. It is very possible that the assessor did not record things which were not considered to be helpful to the decision. Therefore, when you submit your MR you need to try to effectively make your 2016 claim for planning and following a journey from scratch, including as much evidence as you can, You should also point out, as you say you have, that your underlying medical condition was the same in 2016 as it was in 2019 and the impact that it had on your ability to carry out the activities was the same.
(It is of course possible that they are in the process of looking at your letter, but if you did not formally request a Mandatory Reconsideration, I would advise you to do so.)

Hello Catherine
Thanks for your lovely advice.
I just worried about current claim, if they gone back and looked at my previous assessment, they can be change my current claim or under LEAP will not affect anything?

Interesting question Anees.
They have the right to review any current claim at any time, but I can see no reason why a leap review would trigger that, and I have not heard of that happening. If they were to, then clearly you would have the normal right to a Mandatory Reconsideration and appeal.
