Is there a backlog on PIP reviews ATM? was created by cynical_optimist
Hi all,
My award runs out in December. I was one of the people who had an extension granted last year, and then immediately got a review form, I was granted another year of PIP (oh the generosity!)
I've been waiting for the next review form to hit my postbox, and am starting to wonder if I should request one, rather than risk my PIP running out, but I wondered if they were still having issues with backlogs?

Hi cynical_optimist
I would contact DWP tomorrow to see what is happening, as you do not want your claim stopping over the Christmas period.
We have heard on the forum that there is a backlog, we usually advise claimants to contact DWP 6 months before your claim runs out. At one stage DWP were contacting claimants one year before their claim ran out which then reduced to 6 months before a claim ran out then along came Covid-19 which threw everything out the window.

Thanks Gary,
Turns out I'm getting ahead of myself - my claim runs out December 2022, not 2021! I'm hugely relieved, but will chase in 6 months to make sure my new application is in in plenty of time,
best wishes

Sent my review form of at the end of July phoned for an update this morning and was told it’s with a case manager which I guess means it’s in a pile along with the others be lucky if going by past experience unlikely to hear anything back this year as my award runs until June 22
