Update. Reaching pension age and DLA was created by Rambling Ted
In my last thread , I was deciding between claiming PIP or AA when I reached 66 and my DLA stopped. I decided I would claim PIP when I received the letter .asking me to claim .
I havent received the letter so my partner managed to get through to DWP today .
The woman said if I dont received the letter I can carry on with the DLA. She doubled checked .
I was surprised as on the GOv website it says you only stay on it if you are born before 1948.
She will send a PIP 1 form just in case I get the letter.
Im pleased I can stay on DLA but hope the letter hasnt been lost in the post.

Hi Rambling Ted
If you were born before the 8th April 1948 and in receipt of DLA (life or indefinite) award then you will not be reassessed.
If you were born after that date then at some stage in the future you will be reassessed for PIP, during covid this review stopped but it will start up again, www.gov.uk/dla-disability-living-allowan...nefit/your-DLA-claim
I believe the DWP are looking at reviewing all adult DLA claims born after 8th April 1948 by 2022.

I was awarded DLA indefinitely . To confirm , I can apply for PIP after I receive my pension rather than AA.
Also , if I don't receive the letter within the next couple of weeks , can I still apply for PIP anyway and don't need to be asked. ?

Hi Rambling Ted
You will not be eligible for PIP once you reach state pension age unless you already have an award for it. You would have to apply for Attendance Allowance which does not have a mobility component as PIP does.
You can choose to apply for PIP now if that's what you want.

Thanks. I thought because of Covid , that they were giving extra time to claim PIP. She definitely said that DLA would continue but made it sound like you have to receive the letter first before you can claim PIP.
She said she would send a PIP1 form in case a letter came so Hopefully the form will come next week. I will definitely claim PIP before my birthday . I was prepared to do it anyway so I'd rather get it over and done with.

I've had a look at the PIP Transitional Regulations 2013 and as far as I can see you have three options;
1. You can wait for the DWP to invite you to claim PIP, your DLA will remain in payment until four weeks after the Decision on any PIP claim is made.
2. You can report a Change of Circumstances, this will result in an invitation for you to claim PIP, your DLA will remain in payment until four weeks after the Decision on your PIP claim is made.
3. You can make a request to the DWP to claim PIP, your DLA will remain in payment until four weeks after the Decision on your PIP claim is made.
All of these options are available to you once you reach 65 or State Retirement Age, whichever is the later.
You cannot make a new claim for PIP once you have reached 65 or SRA if you are not then receiving an award of DLA.
