Recorded or Special Delivery?.

Hi George, I think the difference with special delivery is it goes in a different sack and is therefore never mixed in with general mail. These bags are given priority and theoretically are much less likely to get lost or damaged in transit. I have always used special delivery and it has always arrived the next day as stated . I know it costs more, but I always send stuff to DWP by special delivery.

Not because it will get there on a certain day, but because it is the only service where it is checked and signed for at every stage of its journey.

Recorded delivery is just that. It records the delivery. But otherwise it goes in the ordinary mail sack, and if it gets lost, no one can tell you where it got lost.

Special delivery items are kept separate, and, having signed for it, and having to get a signature before the person is no longer responsible for it -- much more care is taken.

I've never had a special delivery thing lost, but I have had recorded stuff go missing --although of course, you do have proof of delivery. But that's little comfort if you have to photocopy everything again to resend it.

Hi. I always get ‘next day signed for’. Takes the stress off. I always follow up online and take a ‘screen shot’ of the date and signature.

Mine was sent recorded delivery on the 24th Sep and I can see the signature for it on the 27th Sep. I am assuming they will text me this week but if not I may call them as my return date was 4 wks from 2nd Sep.
